Vidyodaya Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (VJHSS) is the official journal of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. VJHSS is open access and peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Aim and Scope The main aim of VJHSS is to promote scholarly work in humanities and social science. The journal is a multidisciplinary forum devoted to introduce and disseminate knowledge on important and timely topics by publishing high – quality research and scholarly articles in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences written in Sinhala, Tamil or English. Further, the journal encourages collaboration by teams of researchers to create special issues on the latest developments in related topics of national and international importance.

This peer-reviewed journal publishes two issues annually and invite original research articles from diverse disciplines such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Buddhist Civilization, Buddhist Philosophy, Criminology, Cultural Studies, Economics, English, Geography, History, Languages, Mass Communication, Performing Arts, Political Science, Psychology and Philosophy, Religious Studies, Social Statistics, Sociology and related fields.

In addition to original research articles the journal invites review articles, book reviews and short communications.

History of the Vidyodaya Journal

Vidyodaya Journal, the official journal of the then Vidyodaya University was first published on 1st of January 1968, nine years after the inception of the University. The Journal was initially named “Vidyodaya Journal of Art Science and Letters” representing the five faculties; Buddhist Studies, Philosophy, Languages, Arts, and Ayurveda and Science. Two issues of the Journal were published per year from 1968 to 1986 (Volume 1- 14) time period. The first editorial board consisted of Prof. A. V. Suraweera, Prof. Karunarathna Wijethunga, and Prof. P. L. D. Waidyasekara.

From 1987 with the rapid development of the existing Faculties, separate journals were published by each Faculty. Hence, the first Journal which represented the Faculty of Arts, the “Vidyodaya Journal of Social Science” was instigated in 1987. The journal published 8 volumes (two issues/year) between the 1987 and 1997 time period and the editorial board consisted of Prof. A. Ekanayake, Prof. M.M. Karunanayake, and Prof. Mahinda Palihawadana. The executive editor was Prof. W. B. Dorakumbura.

Another important juncture of the Journal was marked in the year 2004, where the name of the Journal was changed once again into the “Vidyodaya Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences” to represent the two major fields of studies in the Faculty namely; “Humanities” and “Social Sciences”. In the year 2011, the name of the Faculty too was changed from “Faculty of Arts” to “Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences”. From the year 2004 up to 2019, 4 volumes of the Journal had been published. The editorial board consisted of Prof. M.M. Karunanayake, Prof. Tissa Kariyawasam, Prof. P. Wilson and Dr. H. M. A. Herath. The Co-ordinating editor was Mr. P Vidanapathirana.

The current editorial board too intends to follow the aged old tradition of the faculty by publishing two issues of the journal per year to provide a platform for the faculty members to disseminate their work in this inimitable journal.

Vidyodaya Journal of Science (VJS) is a peer reviewed, open-access international journal published twice a year by the Faculty of Applied Science of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. The objective of this multidisciplinary journal is to provide a medium for dissemination of the results of high quality research conducted in the areas such as agriculture, biology, chemistry, computer science, food science, life science, mathematics, physics etc. VJS publishes both original articles and technical reviews in the above disciplines.

VJS is a free platform to publish and download the articles. Therefore it does not charge any payment for reviewing, publishing or downloading the articles.

Journal of Tropical Forestry and Environment (JTFE) is a peer reviewed international journal that publishes high quality original research articles in forestry, environmental sciences and natural resource management relevant to tropical regions. This is a semiannual journal published by the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka.

JTFE provides a multidisciplinary forum for discussion of issues and communication of research findings of wider interest to the community of forestry and environmental professionals, especially in the tropical regions. Although the journal has a specific geographical focus, it also welcomes high quality, original submissions of research and review manuscripts on issues of global importance. Acceptance for publication is subject to a double-blind peer-reviewing process.

IJMS is published biannually by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Acceptance for publication is subject to a double-blind peer-reviewing process.

Aim and Scope

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (IJMS) provides a supportive environment for multidisciplinary researchers to publish their contribution to the academy of knowledge and wisdom. Focus of the journal is on multidisciplinary research. A research to be multidisciplinary it should cover at least two distinct disciplines. IJMS accepts submission of research articles, original works, reviews and conceptual works for publication.

The HRM Scintilla: Human Resource Management Journal is a refereed journal which aims to promote the theory and practice of HRM, to provide a national forum for discussion & debate and to stress the critical importance of people management to a wide range of Sri Lankan economic, political, cultural and social concerns. It is published bi-annually.

 International Conference on Intangible Cultural Heritage organized by the Department of Anthropology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura is one of the very first conferences in this field of studies in Sri Lanka. ICICH is conducted under the theme “Enriching Global Citizens through Traditional Insights” which promotes folklore research among academia.

The SLJBE is a peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Department of Business Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. The SLJBE serves as a forum for the dissemination of knowledge and understanding of business economics and related disciplines via high quality research, and is devoted to the study of economic issues and problems related to business enterprises employing both theoretical and empirical enquiry. The SLJBE promotes multi-disciplinary research and encourages international scientific cooperation and understanding among its main audiences, including educators, researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and graduate students.

This is a refereed journal published by the Department of Estate Management and Valuation biannually. Papers received on or before 15th of March and 15th of October in every year are considered for the publication of the year. The Department and the Editorial Board reserve the right to determine the format and the style of the journals. Each prospective article will be blind-reviewed. The Department will commit to publish only the original contributions to the field of real estate by respective authors from Sri Lanka and other countries.

Sri Lankan Journal of Human Resource Management is a refereed journal published by the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. It is published bi-annually. It is the journal of the university devoted to the promotion of systematic and scientific research studies of the theory and practice of human resource management, particularly in Sri Lanka.

The “International Journal of Governance and Public Policy Analysis” (IJGPPA) published by the Research Centre for Governance and Public Policy of Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. IJGPPA provides a wide range of knowledge in identifying, encouraging, and exchanging ideas on public policies. This journal fills the vacuum of limited publications available in the area of Public Administration and Policy in Sri Lanka.

This symposium is a forum for researchers in the fields of Natural Resources Management, to present their research findings, and networking with policy makers and industry.

Proceedings of International Conference on Business Management

The “International Symposium on Polymer Science and Technology 2012 in Collaboration with Industries,Institutions and Universities” (IIUPST 2012) is held with the main objective of merging the academia and polymer industry on a common platform to exchange information and novel ideas to enhance research and development.

We strongly believe that research and development in this community are indispensable in winning over the economic challenges of the country. Having a symposium in collaboration with the academia and industries in Sri Lanka will enhance the partnerships between the industrial sector and government research centers and thus, strengthen our nation’s fiscal framework in an effective way.
